FAQ

WHERE DO YOU SHIP FROM?

Oakville, Ontario, Canada

IS THIS SOAP GOOD FOR SENSITIVE SKIN?

Yes! It is the perfect soap for the whole family. They are perfectly balanced to clean without stripping your skin of it's natural oils. If you currently use a body wash or commercially made bar, you will notice a difference after two or three uses. Your skin will feel healthy again!

HOW ARE THEY DIFFERENT THAN OTHER "SOAPS"?

Many commercial body cleansers are not true "soaps" at all, but contain synthetically derived detergents made from petroleum product. This synthetic detergent acts as the cleansing agent while sulfates are added to create lather which strips skin of it's natural oils. The process used to make our all vegetable soaps render a perfectly balanced product that naturally lathers and cleans without added harsh detergents, phosphates, or sulfates (SLS).

CAN I USE THEM ON MY FACE?
They are formulated to clean and condition skin on your body. For more delicate facial skin, please use "Baby Me" which is formulated for use on babies and faces. NOTE: they are NOT tear-free so please keep away from eyes.

DO THEY LAST A LONG TIME?
Soaps in use should rest on a well drained surface and be allowed to dry completely between uses to extend the longevity. With proper care, they last as long as any other bar out there, maybe even longer if you consider that they lather and clean down to the very last sliver (no more throwing away the last of a soap that was so dried and cracked it didn't even lather anymore!)

WHY SO MUCH FOR SHIPPING??
I do not make money off shipping charges. Canada Post charges by weight and dimension and since they do not distinguish between a bar of soap or a bar of gold it makes it relatively expensive to ship one bar of soap. They charge almost as much to ship one bar as four though so I give price breaks on postage for the purchase of at least four bars.  (10 bars ship for free in Canada and $10 to the U.S.)

DO YOU USE PALM OIL?
I struggled over the use of palm oil at the beginning of my soapmaking adventure over 10 years ago doing my research on how it was obtained as well as its use in soap. I experimented with several recipes without the use of palm and discovered a big difference in the quality, longevity, and texture of the bars. In the end, I made the informed choice to use palm oil certified by the Roundtable for Sustainable Palm (RSPO).
I am a supporter of the WWF which also actively works in promoting sustainable practices in palm oil production.  There is a lot of information on their website about the worldwide use of palm oil and the complexities of the industry ie. livelihood of the farmers vs. boycotting.

"Palm oil is an incredibly efficient crop producing more oil per land area than any other equivalent vegetable oil crop.  Globally, palm oil supplies 35% of the world's vegetable oil demands on just 10% of the land. To get the same amount of alternative oils like soybean or coconut you would need between 4-10 times more land, which would just shift the problem to other parts of the world and threaten other habitats and species. Furthermore, palm oil is an important crop for the GDP of emerging economies and there are millions of smallholder farmers who depend on producing palm oil for their livelihood.  Boycotting is not always the answer, but demanding more action to tackle the issues and go further and faster, is."

It is not an exaggeration to say that palm oil is in just about everything from crackers to lipstick. Roughly 50% of all packaged products on the market contain palm oil (listing as vegetable oil). I opt to financially support WWF's initiative to stop deforestation while also shaping and influencing standards for sustainable practices in the palm oil industry. Achieving a healthy balance in my practices to benefit people without the harm to animals or planet is a priority in my everyday life.
